Just got a new style axle under my tractor been waiting since june for it to arrive at the dealer will get to mower 1 time so will see if it tears up the sod when you turn. Had to look down when i turned the sterring wheel the first time i thought it wasn't turing. You know that you get accustom to the resistanes when you turn their was none. It was only to take 3 to 4 weeks to get the front axle but they kept putting me off. It was the after market manger that seem coudn't get it going i finnaly got tired of waiting so got his email and told him what i thought and gave them an ear full. Then he sent it to the factory rep. He saiid it was his error. I got it in a week after all of this.Sometimes you got to set a fire under them to get it done but you shouldn't have if they do their job. Thought let any one know that Warren

JD Deere needs to offer both styles of axles,I think the older style is a heavier looking unit and less slip in the axle,Turf tearing is not a problem to me,but I can see where it would be a problem for someone doing a lot of finish mowing.

Hillbilly
Why have 2 style of axle when 1 will do it they probaly check it out for strength when they design it at least i hope they did.Which would be more cost to them to have inventory for 2 styles instead of 1 and they wold pass it along to us.I like to keep my $$$$$$$$$$$$$ don't you?

You are right about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ That is why I will keep my old style/loader type, heavy duty bullet proof axle.I bet I will never have an axle failure with it.
